Tally Up

So after a year it looks like my most popular posts (based on comments) are ones discussing Tempurpedic Mattresses and Charlie Sheen’s Shirts. I’ve gotten a few on some of my semi-political posts which I try to post so neutral people generally think my opinion is the opposite of what it actually is.

These are also a few of the things people most often get here from search engines. Other searches often found are Senior Quotes, a long quote from Garden State, duck tape prom dresses, boogers immune system and a few others.

In case you weren’t sure all these items are on the site, just check the search engine. Occasionally I get some weird ones like “guess book of individual cat sale in las vegas” which just all those words were somewhere on one archive page, I just can’t believe I rank second on a google search like that…

Strange Searches

So if you haven’t noticed it yet I’ve got a search results referrer page set up (in the About section) so you can see many (but not necessarily all) of the search criteria people typed into google/yahoo/etc. and got a link to one of my pages and click on it. Of course they are clickable so you can then see the same results and click on me (or somewhere else) and once I list the top ten you want to go and click on them…

Common searches (and even stranger that they clicked on me):

  • tempur-pedic (or tempurpedic or even temperpedic) – this is the type of mattress I bought for my bed.
  • boogers immune (or other variations)- this is a funny post be sure to search for it.
  • senior quotes – I listed a quote they did at graduation last year.
  • national geographic theme song – I mentioned this in a meme or two.
  • lots of joan of arcadia references – THE best show on TV.
  • sex flash – another meme question
  • lots to do with duct tape prom outfits – another interesting post.
  • oleana david mamet – lots of people looking for information on David Mamet’s play Oleana (or movie)
  • My New Tempurpedic Bed

tempurpedicSo I finally got a new bed. I got one of those squishy Tempurpedic mattresses. It’s also larger, I went from a full to a queen size. I don’t really have a good opinion yet, but I don’t have any complaints yet. Actually I have a minor one, I had to put different rails on my bed frame and besides the fact that they aren’t the right color (I bought them four years ago) they are lower so now I can’t get the under the bed boxes out from under the bed (but that isn’t a Tempurpedic Mattress issue).

In the morning I felt like I didn’t feel like I tossed and turned, I’ll see more after a few more days….

UPDATE: This post has a huge amount of comments (400+) so feel free to read through them for more info. They definitely start with negative comments but I think it evens out as you read on. People talk about their sheets sliding (I have no problems) and other temperpedic models (like the rhapsody).

I’ve also added various comments through the years.

I do not know what model I have, I’m not sure if there were more than one or two available at the time. Anyone know how to check?

2010 update: I’ve checked and it appears there was only one model available at the time of MY purchase, they say that it is now designated the Classic (now there are 11 versions). I purchased the mattress and the foundation directly from Tempurpedic over five years ago and I’m still very happy with it.

We Wanna Know – Sunday Brunch

    1. Looking back on the past week, what was your favorite moment? I had a really nice day Friday, I took the day off because the weekend was supposed to be yucky (and it ended up being nice most of the time). Blading, happy hour, errands (crossed a lot off my list) Fireworks at The Henry Ford with Kelly, Liz and Thomas.
    2. Tell us about funny moment that had you and others laughing ’til it hurt. My buddy Mark was moving and we we lifting some stuff of the edge of the patio (it was about 6 feet off the ground and very long, the door from the living room and bedroom open to it). Heather and I were pushing the mattress up and no one was there so I yelled for help. Mark comes running out, into the closed glass door (and I swear the glass bowed out a few inches) knocked himself silly and instead of opening the door and coming out, he ran around inside and came out the other door. Every time I saw him for the next few days (weeks) I just burst out laughing.
    3. What is one of your favorite childhood memories?
    4. Tell us about a time when you were traveling when things just didn’t work out as planned. Costa Rica – driving through the mountains to get to Mount Arenal (the world’s most active volcano). Driving around trying to find a hotel or food while avoiding the HUGE wacos (pot holes) by the time we found the place we had blown a tire and the hotel was all but closed. We convinced the guy at the desk who didn’t speak any english to get us some food because we we starving so bad (he didn’t even charge us). He chopped up mangos and fruit and all sorts of stuff for us what a crazy night.
    5. Have you ever been in the middle major storm (blizzard/tornado/hurricane/earthquake)? If yes, tell us about it. Yes. Last minute I flew down to visit Christine (West Virgina) over New Year’s (about 5 years ago), I had flight issues (not weather related) just getting there and the day I went to leave there was a huge blizzard there and in Michigan. I’m pretty patient so I checked into a hotel and went to the mall (I figured movie, food, shopping, etc.). During the movie (Step Mom) they close the mall, but no one tells us, so now they have a bunch of emotional people trapped in the mall. All the restaurants are closed, everything is iced over. I took me three hours to get a cab to take me back to the hotel. The hotel had no indoor pool, no gift shop, just basic TV, even the airport which I went to a half dozen times didn’t even have anything. I had actually read all they books they had already (except for the romance novels). It was a disaster when I got back to Detroit, people were basically living in the airport, it was like something out a war movie with all the refugees, I’m not kidding that’s how I felt. When I went down to get my luggage there was luggage from the past few days there stacked 5 feet high. They conveyers were three pieces of luggage deep, when people grabbed luggage they couldn’t dislodge it and got dragged along. It was the only snow day they had the few years I worked at that school district and I missed it…

    Home Improvement – Thursday Threesome

Home for geeky toys and some sleep.

    1. Onesome: Home- What’s the one thing your dream home must have? Every room, closet and porch wired for networking, speakers, audio, video, satellite, cable, phone and (of course) electricity.
    2. Twosome: improvement- What’s the one thing you would change about your current home? New bed, couch? New carpet or wallpaper? Or something major like an addition? I live in a condo on the 3/4 floor, if I thought I could get away with a hot tub on the balcony, that would be it. But I think it’s probably going to be a new bed, actually the bed isn’t old but I need a new mattress, maybe one of the spongy memory foam ones.
    3. Threesome: shows – Do you ever watch home improvement shows? Which one(s)? Do you actually learn anything, or is it simply entertaining? Not really into the home improvement shows. They are kind of bizarro, IMHO.

    From the Thursday Threesome.
