High School – The First Four

What are the first four things you think of when I say: High School

  • What was your first kiss like? – Saturday Slant

This is a classic Saturday Slant revisited. Take a trip down memory lane to your innocence. Do you remember your first kiss? Was it electric or static, mind blowing or no big deal? What was his or her name? How did the kiss come about?
My very first kiss? That’d be Lisa Dickenson in Kindergarten, but I don’t think that’s what was meant. I had a few kisses (AL, AE & BT) as I got older but I think my first real kisses (i.e. Make Out) was probably Marsha Mozarowski, she made me tingle all the way down to my toes. I’d have to guess they were initiated by her, at her house, in the basement where we used to play games (video and board). Don’t know what ever happened to her, it’s a pretty unique name and you don’t get anything if you Google her…

I Finally Made the Cover of a National Magazine

reasoncover2This is the cover of this the June 2004 Reason magazine. For those of you who don’t know, this is an ariel view of my house (click to zoom). Everyone who was a subscriber got a personalized cover and a some other personalized portions. Honestly, this is why I subscribed… I’m sure a bunch of people will freak out due to the lack of privacy. But they don’t have any anyways, this just puts it in their face. I’m dying to know what my postal carrier thought when he delivered that day…

    Saturday Drivers – Saturday-8

    1. Have you ever been in a serious accident? If not, how about any accident?
Yes. Stopped at a light, some guys in the car behind us were ogling a woman on the side of the road and plowed right into us. I saw them coming and grabbed my girlfriend (in the passenger seat). Our car then went forward to hit the car in front of us that had a baby in the back seat (which was okay). Said GF still managed to hit rear-view mirror with head (broke the mirror off) and her glasses flew off which we found in the back of the hatchback compartment. We even had our seat-belts on!
    2. Have you ever been ticketed for an accident and if so did you pay it or fight it?
Yeah, a different very minor accident, I lost so I ended up paying it. I thought it was iffy enough to try.
    3. What kind of insurance do you have and would you recommend it to your friends?
I like my State Farm, good prices and not too many issues…
    4. Did the accident cause you to change the way you drive?
    No.
    5. Did you need a rental car? If so, did you get a better car or worse one than you had? If not, what did you do for transportation?
THe above accident was the gf’s car, I think she borrowed one from someone else in the extended family.
    6. Have any of the mishaps you’ve experienced with your vehicles given you impressions of the quality or safety of certain vehicles?
    No.
    7. When in an accident were you alone, with someone, with your children, etc. Did that make a difference in the situation?
Oh yeah, it’s one thing to have something happen to me but to someone else, when I’m driving, yuk… The accident with the gf above we were stopped (so not my fault!) but there is definitely the extra sense of panic…
    8. Finally if you could drive any vehicle you wanted, what would it be?
Assuming I can’t pick the space shuttle or the Batmobile… Actually I’m not really fussy about cars. I love my convertible. I’d love a hybrid that was a convertible that was still large enough (like my Sebring) to keep all my junk in!

Hopefully everyone drives safely and gets where they are going. Be well and we’ll see you here (Saturday-8) again next week.

Where do you plan to go on vacation this year, or where would you want to go?
I’ve still never been to Roswell. But I think I’d like to go to London while it’s nice this summer. Maybe back to Costa Rica when it’s cold up here…
    Soup
What color is your bedroom? If you could redecorate it, what would you change?
Plain, flat off white. I’m pretty happy with it, maybe a new bigger bed. Oh, and I’d paint the Windows black!
    Salad
Do you have a bumper sticker on your vehicle? If not, make one up!

What’s the worst pain you’ve ever been in?
When I was fifteen I walked through a glass door at the mall, cut up both of my arms pretty bad, bad enough that my mom probably didn’t have any problem following the trail… Hours later the shot they gave me at the hospital for pain hurt much more than the actual accident (but I wasn’t in shock any more either.
    Dessert
Who is your favorite celebrity? What do they do that inspires you?
Gene Hackman. He always does great and he does different roles from being a spy to Lex Luthor to…

    The Question – RAOJ

Has there ever been a moment in your life when you felt at one with (nature, God, the universe, etc.
So I was on this retreat with college friends. We were in Missouri up in the Ozarks and it was beautiful there, in the mountains with a lake and a great view from all over. I’m not a particularly athletic person but every so often I get into running and the first few times after I haven’t done it in a while I go pretty good. I decided to go for a run and as I went I kept getting farther and farther around that lake. I decided I’d go around it. It turns out it was a big “L” (not exactly but there was a part/leg I couldn’t see) but from where we were it looked like an “I” so it was much farther and I just kept going and going and it was just great and incredible out in these woods with the water all around and all this adrenaline just running through me keeping me going. I was gone for ages and non-stop and just kept going I never knew where all of that came from I just kind of floated around on that for the rest of the weekend….
