Oakland County Child Killings

So just a few days ago I was thinking about the Oakland County Child Killings from a few decades ago. I thought it was pretty bizarre that I even thought about it at the time. I was in a parking lot and I remembered trying to recall the type of they were looking for (at the time I couldn’t think of they name but it was a blue Gremlin, with a white stripe). I do remember thinking it was strange that I was even thinking of it and I’ve thought of it several times since then. I was on the way to the car, not from it, so I wouldn’t have just heard it on the radio (besides I’m pretty sure I was listening to a Laura Veirs CD earlier, it was my day off, so I didn’t need the traffic report).

So here’s the extra strange part, I was googling around looking for John McElroy’s Automotive Insight show to see if they had an on-line feed (which I never did find) and I found this WWJ Audio Page with a link to a November 30, 2004 story about the killings. I’m 99% pretty sure it’s from the same day I was thinking about it. Coincidence? Or did I catch part of the story and not remember? or…?

What’s Inside an iPod Nano ?!?

So on Systm (actually it was SubSystm, a short show focusing on one topic) they just felt the need to crack open the beautiful iPod nano. They filmed it live so you get to see all the guts inside (here’s the specific episode). Besides a little bit of an iPod infomercial, the show included a putty knife, a screwdriver and some really dangerously thin ribbon cables that he was afraid to break remove.

It looks to me like it’ll be easy to replace the battery in the future. It also looks like (assuming the hardware will support it) that it might be easy to replace the memory chips with something larger in the (far) future. Even if it won’t supoort it, they’ll adapt it, everything else is done (you can’t make it much smaller with a screen and a clickwheel), it’s just getting the size of the memory down (a 60GB nano would be nice someday).

What Happens at the Equinox (at your house)? – Sunday Brunch

The calendar says it’s officially spring –

  1. Do you get a spring break? No. But most of the teachers and staff leave so it’s a nice time at work to get things done.
  2. Some of us are pretty casual about spring cleaning. Others go to it with a lot of gusto. Which are you? I’m due. My house is the absolute worst it’s every been! (It’s messy not dirty)
  3. Is planting flowers or a vegetable garden on the agenda? I’ll hang some on the railing of my condo (maybe). They better not need any water!
  4. Do you suffer from allergies and do they get worse in the spring? Yes I do. They generally do, but the seasons in Michigan haven’t been very cut and dry lately which doesn’t help any.
  5. How will you celebrate Easter this year? The family will get together most likely, generally a smaller gathering but many will be there. Maybe kidnap some kids to color some eggs and do the regular “stuff”.

These questions are from Sunday Brunch.
