Cooking to Hook Up – a pre-review

So stumbling around the ‘net Misty was talking about what kind of girl she was (and so were a few other sites) and as a result I found info on a book for guys on cooking for more effective dating (called Cooking to Hook Up), what really caught my eye (and maybe that was the point) was the different archetypes that they break the women up into. I didn’t just get this from reviews, I found their site (and they is/are a divorced couple who still seem to get along. For a short quiz as part of marketing for a cookbook this has grown into a pretty busy meme.

Cooking to Hook Up: The Bachelor's Date-Night Cookbook (Cookbooks) Drew Campbell, Ann Marie MichaelsI compiled the information on some of the ones I’ve dated most often below (well, these are the ones I found the funniest). They’ve got information on each of the types and artist’s renditions (below). You may want to view the individual entry to see the table better.

Wimbledon

WimbledonSaw Wimbeldon the other day. It was cute. The ads were much sexier, and I’m not saying it wasn’t, but there really wasn’t much more than you’d see on primetime TV, actually a lot less (so you could take the kids). Good filming and I’m SO not into tennis. Both the leads were great but Kirsten just steals the whole screen when she smiles.

Two and a half men!

Jake is back! THis show always makes me laugh, but I’d been a little sad that Jake (the 1/2) hadn’t been on (barely) the last few weeks. This week was better. If you’re not watching this show you should, you can always catch Las Vegas in the re-runs…

Garden State

So I finally saw it! It was really excellent. Kind of a Beautiful Girls meets Lithium… Zach and Natalie were perfect for the parts he had this lost/numb look when needed and she’s hysterical. She seemed really young in the movie reminding me a lot of her character Marty in Beautiful Girls (but that was 8 years). I will need the DVD for the director’s commentary (and any extras). Even the not funny scenes were funny in some way. I laughed lots! Out loud.

I always try to figure out what to say without giving up the movie… If you think you’ll like it, you probably will. It’s really got the gears turning in my head, I need the life altering experiences that some of the characters wen through so I can wake up and get moving with my life. Thanks to the motivators Maya and Jenni and everyone else whose been talking about this… I was halfway there when I remembered tissue, or more specifically that we didn’t have any, but I survived. The funny stuff offset the rest a bit…

Michigan Reviews

This is just a note about two new sub-categories I’ve added. Michigan and Reviews.

Michigan
is for things related to things in the state. Not specifically that I went to Zoo but info about it, but it might just be as short as “it’s the best bird preserve in the state!”
Reviews
info on anything (movies, music, games, books, etc). It might just mention a great preview or the best burger I ever had…

These are subject to change/grow. I’ve been wanting to do some reorganizing the other categories a little so it may grown with them…

Good BBQ Burger (Wyandotte, MI)

Went to Wyandotte (Michigan) today and went to some 50’s themed bar/brewpub on Maple and had The Back Yard BBQ Burger. What a great burger! It had Melted cheddar, crisp bacon, and BBQ sauce. The place was called Sports – A 50’s Bar & Grill. Good prices too!

Never would’ve guessed it.

I’m really into the first episode of shows so I can get the feel of the show (good or bad) it it gets better to know what ti was supposed to be like. So I taped dr. vegas just to see what it was like. I really enjoyed it. I will admit I wasn’t looking for anything super at the time, so I reserve the right to change my mind, but…

joepantrobloweI really like Joe Pantoliano and Rob Lowe is usually good and they worked well together so it might be a fun show. I know the reviewers weren’t excited, but it was fun. Maybe Las Vegas meets Scrubs. Sarah Lancaster is fun too, but I’m not sure where I know her from (actuallty, lots of stuff). A few other characters, but not sure how they’ll play out yet…

My New Tempurpedic Bed

tempurpedicSo I finally got a new bed. I got one of those squishy Tempurpedic mattresses. It’s also larger, I went from a full to a queen size. I don’t really have a good opinion yet, but I don’t have any complaints yet. Actually I have a minor one, I had to put different rails on my bed frame and besides the fact that they aren’t the right color (I bought them four years ago) they are lower so now I can’t get the under the bed boxes out from under the bed (but that isn’t a Tempurpedic Mattress issue).

In the morning I felt like I didn’t feel like I tossed and turned, I’ll see more after a few more days….

UPDATE: This post has a huge amount of comments (400+) so feel free to read through them for more info. They definitely start with negative comments but I think it evens out as you read on. People talk about their sheets sliding (I have no problems) and other temperpedic models (like the rhapsody).

I’ve also added various comments through the years.

I do not know what model I have, I’m not sure if there were more than one or two available at the time. Anyone know how to check?

2010 update: I’ve checked and it appears there was only one model available at the time of MY purchase, they say that it is now designated the Classic (now there are 11 versions). I purchased the mattress and the foundation directly from Tempurpedic over five years ago and I’m still very happy with it.
