Just regular kinds of stuff that happened (that doesn’t fit in other categories).

So I’ve been doing stuff around the house

57422 Pe163006 S3So I’ve replaced my old tables at my place. They were old ones when I moved in 8 years ago. It was about time and it was an item on my 101 in 1001 list. Here’s the smaller one, the other one is just longer. The glass top is interchangeable with the wood, which I’ll never do, but I like the feature :)

Plus I put in this looonnngg cabinet along the front of the room, it’s pretty much exactly what I’ve been looking for DVDs and CDs and “stuff”. It’s 77 inches long so it’s got room for a lots of items.

Also, I finally put some curtains up in the living room (this is also on my 101 in 1001 list)

It’s resulted in some movement and rearranging around the house. It’s never exactly what I want so I’m still thinking about the layout.

It feels really really really hot outside….

I don’t really have to add anything to clarify that do I?!?

I slept great last night (which is awful)

I slept nine hours last night, so I feel pretty great. The problem is that I didn’t fall asleep until after five (no, I wasn’t doing anything exciting, I just wasn’t sleeping). So now that that I woke up after two I’m going to need to make myself tired with drugs early tonight (Ambien will be my friend) so I can get back on schedule or I’ll never get to work on time this week. And it’s night night I’m goign to be tired at all come 10 or 11 tonight…

So yesterday: I roller-bladed, ran all sorts of errands, drank only one bottle of coke (it was early in the afternoon and much below my normal intake) so why couldn’t I sleep?!? Sometimes I’m just like a little kid and I fight it off, but I’m nit sure why…

Why not just fix it?!?

So I’m at Einstein Bros Bagels getting lunch and they’ve got the little sign where they list the soups they have that day (they removable pieces so they can change the sign depending on availability). Now today everyone seems to want Brocolli Cheddar (including me), which they happen to be out of, but it’s still on the sign. They actually have three choices: Leave it (the likely choice), remove that soup from the list, make more soup. I don’t think Mr. Einstein would be very impressed with their smarts…

My Mom called…

So my Mom called because she heard (from Chuck) that you could see both the ISS and the Space Shuttle go by tonight and she knows I like stuff like that. So I dug around and found this which tells you when you can see cool stuff like that. Sure enough, I saw the ISS exactly when they said although the shuttle was a minute late. The times do vary slightly from city to city so be sure to look up your town. The shuttle I’m slightly less confident on due to delays, but it was definitely something. Tomorrow, I see they are passing at the exact same time, I’m assuming they’ll be docked! I guess I’ll be able to tell via this tracker tomorrow.

And you can find your city too! Be sure to check out SkyWatch after you look up your city (it’s more detailed and complicated so do the simple one first).

Red, White and Blue

ItunesredwhiteblueThe iTunes song of the Week (this week) is Red, White and Blue by Rockie Lynne. If you’ve got iTunes click here and scroll down to the lower left to download it for free.

It’s country, which isn’t really my thing. But the thing that caught my eye in the description is when it said “it’s willing to admit that flag-waving isn’t enough anymore” and it preaches tolerance “but doesn’t shove it down your throat”. I’m patriotic in that I’m incredibly grateful for this wonderful country we live it (even with it’s flaws), but I’m not a huge red/white/blue kind of person. I was the same way at college too, I loved it at MSU and raved about it to people, but I was a student much more that I was a spartan and my green and white ward robe still suffers.

Happy 4th of July!!!

It was a really great view of the city.

It was a pretty good burger too :)

Things I don’t understand…

These are things that (to me) save time and money and I don’t understand why people who have the option don’t use them…

Use Mail In Prescriptions
We have a prescription plan at work and it’s a great one. It’s $5 an order of a prescription (generally a month’s worth) but if you mail it in they send you about 3 months worth for $2. $2 vs. $15 and I don’t have to go back to the pharmacy, this isn’t a complicated decision.
Using the ATM Machine
I go to the back, they’ve got two drive through lines backed up and I generally pull right up the the ATM machine (or wait for one person) and get my cash (maybe make a deposit) and go and the same people are still at the back of the line. I’m not sure why all those people are in line, are they getting better cash? Do they really like using the pneumatic tubes that much? It’s pretty much the same issue using the walk up bank vs. walk up ATM, except you don’t get to use the tubes…
Automatic bill payment
Many (most?) utility companies will automatically charge your bill to your checking account, these are generally done the day the bill is due and it’s generally free. Did you get this: you don’t have to use a check, take the time to write it out, use a 39 cent stamp and then mail it (where it’s probably going to get there early or late, not the day it’s due, right?), they’ll just do it automatically for you! My gas, electric, cable and cell phone company will do this. Plus my mortgage, my association fees, car insurance, homeowners insurance and several of my charge cards will do this too (all on the exact day it’s due). This isn’t on-line banking, they just do it (for free). That’s about 8 checks and envelopes a month plus over $3 in stamps.
