Tori in Detroit!!

ToriamosWoo Hoo! Tori Amos is going to be at the Detroit Opera House in April!!!!!! Not only is it a semi-small venue (at 3-4,000 seats it’s certainly not the Palace) it’s a very easy ride from my house.

Flu – The First Four

What are the first four things you think of when I say FLU?

  • Snot
  • Cough
  • Headache
  • Sleep

    From The First Four

  • Finally (Smallville)

So if you don’t watch Smallville you probably don’t care and if you haven’t watched last night’s episode you probably don’t want to read this. So it’s been bugging me that Lana Lang and Clark Kent haven’t been interacting much (if at all) and it’s been annoying that if they aren’t going to interact then get her off the show.

    Blogging – It’s Blogcess

    1) How long have you been blogging?
One year and a few months.
    2) How many templates (looks) have you had for your blog since it’s inception? Do you design your own or have someone else do them for you?
Probably close to ten, I had a while that I was messing with it all the time, especially when people complained about the swirling graphics. I usually use my own layout template but I usually use a free template as a basis; that means I’ll use some of their colors and a graphic or two.
    3) How many posts have you made on your blog? How often do you post?
This will make number 573, I average about one-and-a-half a day but I don’t post every day… I post every few days, more on the weekends.
    4) For many of us having a blog also means we read blogs. Let’s share a few of our favorites for some blog recess linky love.
I read gobs and gobs of them. You can see my blogroll list on my home page on the lower right.

    The Beekeeper – Tori Amos

So I picked up The Beekeeper today. It really does reminds me of her older albums (even the packaging). I’m liking it so far. There seems to be two versions a reguluar version with 19 tracks and a limited edition with the same album, a DVD and some seeds to plant (I’m not kidding). The DVD has a really long interview thing that I haven’t really listened to yet and a extra track (Garland) that appears to be part video / part slideshow (with quotes from her book Tori Amos: Piece by Piece). Most places seem to have the regular for $12-ish and the deluxe for $16-ish (YMMV).

The Top 100 Gadgets of All Time

Mobile PC released a list of The Top 100 Gadgets of All Time and it’s got some fun stuff on it. I’ve owned quite a few of these (even the plain old mechanical ones) or some variation of them at one time or another. It’s a fun list if you like gadget and gizmos….

    Product Placement on Television

So there has been complaints of product placement in television shows. It came up a few days ago in a meme question and I’ve seen it mentioned somewhere else since then plus I’ve been thinking about it a bit since Friday. I’m not sure what the problem is? We see product placement in sports all the time, in the background, on the uniforms, sponsorships of the show and who knows what else. I’m not sure what it matters when the hosts are drinking Coca-Cola on American Idol or someone on a fiction show is eating some brand name candy. Someone is going to start drinking Coke because Paula drank it on TV? What about when someone famous is drinking it on an ad? I’m thinking I’m not going to be any more motivated to buy Red Zone deodorant just because I saw Clark Kent with some in his locker on Smallville a few weeks ago. Although the ad stuck in my head (so I guess it worked on some level), but that’s just because they paused on it a bit too long the few times they showed it (it was on a banner at the Smallville High football game too).

    Torn Shoulder

So I’m in the hospital today. Mom’s getting some surgery on her shoulder. We had to be here by 6:15 am, did you know it’s still dark out then?!? She’s done already and the Doc said everything went perfect and she’ll be out of recover in a few hours. Yeah!!
