What would you do for fun if you had to give up tv, movies, electronic games and the internet? Friday Question #51

Written By: Gary on January 2, 2009 4 Comments

I don’t know how I would/could give up the Internet. It’s just too much a part of who I am. I could give up TV and movies (I don’t really play electronic games) if I had to, way easier than the ‘net.

I’d certainly read more. I’ve got 3 new library books sitting here all overdue! I’d definitely play more board/card games, but I need more people for that, I love games.

I’d check out more local music (which I do already) and theatre. And I should probably play outside more, but it’s so cold right now that thought doesn’t really register.

I always wish I had more people around to play games with too. Steven and I have to stick to the 2-people games. Sometimes it’s not as fun.

Especially if your favorite is their least favorite (or they’re really bad at it) and vice-versa…

In my experience adult games = endless minefield. Whenever I participated in any adult games that involved more than two people, it never ended well. It always resulted in drama of some sort. I hate drama. Someone always ended up feeling mad, hurt or otherwise upset. Either something said in the coarse of a game gets misinterpreted, hurting some feelings; or someone’s overly competitive nature gets the best of them, or some secret accidentally gets revealed, or something. I think it may have something to do with the fact that as adults most of us have lost the ability to just relax, trust, and play. We seek hidden meaning where non is intended, we are always on guard, under control. Whatever. I have learned to stay away from them adult games.

I also enjoy the Internet very much. Just recently, I became a passion of memes and blog carnivals. That’s why I found TheDailyMeme.com in the first place and would like to thank you for your great work. It is an awesome site!

But now back to the question. I definitely would spent my time with outdoor activities, having a lot of fun with my family and friends. Plus taking a lot of photos. This is also one of my recent hobbies. Reading books is also a great alternative. There are still plenty of options. Best wishes.
