A Tornado at Burger King

So I’m getting a snack at BK and some sun, I’ve got a spot I like where the sun shines in the window. And a bunch of little girls who are celebrating a birthday came in. I’m not sure how many of them were the Mom’s that was with them but they were a handful. They sure ate a lot too. Mom kept threatening them with no ice cream if they didn’t shape up! It’s pretty much a disaster where they were although it’s the spot that faces the televisions (closed captioned) so all the kids always want to sit there.

They just redid our BK in Dearborn and now it has WiFi. Isn’t technology great!

I tried the new checken tender sandwich (lettuce, tomato and no mayo), it’s better than the old one but Wendy’s spicy is way better. Oh, and I won free french fries too!

A Day to Remember – A Lifetime to Act

Listen. Look. Learn. Pay attention today, listen to what people are saying in person and on TV today.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the third Monday in January, was first declared a public holiday in the United States by President Reagan in 1983. Born on January 15th, 1929, Martin Luther King became a Baptist minister and doctor of theology. He travelled extensively throughout the United States, preaching and working for Afro-American civil rights and was assassinated in Memphis Tennessee on 4th April, 1968.

The following is part of his famous speech “I have a dream“:
So even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I stll have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream, that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. I have a dream, that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners, will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood – I have a dream.

The audio of his speech is on-line.

Cross that list off!

It was a nice weekend! Got lots of things checked off my list. Got a few things 1/2 checked off (so my place is a mess since I didn’t finish those projects, even though I started them). Went to a restaurant that I really like but can never remember… The takeout boxes are black styrofoam, looks kinda cool for leftovers.

Still have my Christmas tree up. But I really like the lights and I’ll have to rearrange if I take it down. :)

Happy New Year 2004!!!

It’s the start of a New Year! My friends have headed out and it’s time for the first entry of the new year! :) 2004flag It’s been a great day (no crisises have occured, at least nothing nationwide), great friends, great pizza and I love those new Seagram’s Twisters! We played games: Dominoes and Scene It? (excellent DVD/board game that’s due for an entry soon). I’m off to sleep in the new year…

Vacations have to end…

Well it’s been a nice long weekend (5 days). I got to ride on the train (did I tell you I love the train?) and visit the crew on the west side of the state again (Heather, Nan, Tina and more…) and we ate (lots) and played games (WordDrop/Euchre). We also went to a museum which had all sorts of cool stuff (and the signage actually explained stuff) and a planetarium visit. Got to play with Heather’s & my blogs. Saw many other friends and managed to relax a whole lot…

Well that’s a bit of a few sentences that doesn’t say much specific.
Hmmm…. “I had lots of quality time with friends, had lots of fun and relaxed a lot!” That pretty much says it all…

I love the train!!!

I’m off to see friends (Heather, Nan and the rest of the Allegan crew and whomever is visiting) and I’m on the train from Dearborn to K’zoo and I’m loving it. It’s so easy and you get the landscape (if you can call it that) floating by the window and I can blog/read/computer/etc. It’s pretty full (and left a little late) and I’m sitting next to this really quiet woman (reading Steven King) with my coke, my blog and I’m ready to watch a movie or something…

The Dearborn train station is a mile from my house and has free parking that’s right next to the police station which makes this extra convenient for me!

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

I just got up and it looks exactly how it’s supposed to look outside on Christmas!!!

Need I say more?

Merry Christmas to all!

The kids were hysterically funny tonight. So many presents… They got a million on Sunday and they were already ready for more.

I had brought over a kit to make ornaments out of Lego-like pieces. They (4, 5, 7, 9 years old) were thrilled! They didn’t want to get up and go open presents. So if you see any of these on clearance tomorrow, be sure to pick some up.

Got to drive around a bit and look at some lights. There are a few streets around that put the little tea lights out in front and it was very nice. (It’d be better if there was snow!)
