Stuff about friends and family. This might be stuff that happened, things I did with them or …

Have my cake and eat it too!

So I know you’ve all heard me mention my Waffle Toffee Crunch Ice Cream Sundae from the last few times I was in England. So at work yesterday (for my birthday, which is actually today/Saturday) we always have cake for the birthday-boys (and girls) and Kim had made me a Waffle Toffee Crunch Cake with Whipped Creme on top. I thought it was kinda silly at first but it was delicious!!!

Mildly Scary

So my friends know so much about the people whose blogs I read, I’m sure they sometimes forget these aren’t people that I run into daily (ever).

These aren’t the only ones I read, they’re just they ones I think my friends have enough info about to recall who they are when I bring them up.

  • Sarah – Srah in Texas AA.
  • Melissa – Detroit area, extra funny and whom I (and others) was afraid might give up blogging.
  • Dean – Also local and who I mention every time I pass the Kitty Chop Suey sign (and it was really a post by his better half!).
  • Alfie – From AA who sent me a BurnIt and is coincidentally the sister of Sarah
  • Lisa – With the Audrey Hepburn photo on the blog (who coincidentally also sent me a BurnIt CD)
  • Sarah – Sassypants, a Texas ex-blogger (where it seems like most female bloggers are from)

These folks are WAY more than this little definitions that I have here, but these are the key phrases that make my friends realize who I mean…

  • What I do (and don’t) post about.

I generally don’t post about dating, I assume all my past and present girlfriends read my entries. No my Ego is not that big, I just post with such an assumption so that I can stay out of trouble. I won’t leave out if/when I get engaged/married. And once I’m married I’m assuming I’ll post more about the relationship. I will not complain about the wedding planning process publicly until after the wedding (assuming I do go through with the process). They were talking about this at SpiralInSpiral but my thoughts got too long for the comments.

Watch out when I have kids though, I’ll give you every little detail. (Can they sue for embarrassment when they get older?) Not today’s laws, but with the laws of the future…

I also try not to complain to much (although many times when I post facts people think I’m complaining), I want the complaining to be a very small percentage of my posts, I think my (few) readers prefer it that way.

    Celebration…

So yesterday we got everyone together after Heather’s Ordination. Back at Mom’s (hers) to get everyone together, and I mean everyone. Heather knows people from all over and there were people from everywhere in the state, nearby states and even some really far ones. A few kids running around and a ten-month old baby, LaLa (short for Lavender), that I adopted for the weekend.

Then today she did the service at 8am and 10am (most of us went to the 10) and she was wonderful. Then a dozen of us went out to eat and we started our way home…

Heather is off to Evanston, IL to work for Northwestern as a campus minister. She’ll probably be living no farther than a block or three from where she lived when she went to seminary at Seabury. Evanston is one of my favorite towns, I almost always include it in my visits to Chicago (and I don’t always include Chicago into my Evanston visits). And I can take the train most of the way there!

    She did it! Congratulations Heather!

heather04Today I had the pleasure of seeing Heather Marie Voss be ordained and become The Reverend Heather Voss…

More later. Gotta get back inside…

    Back to School

Lots of comings and goings at school this week. Training new teachers (they’re all super nice). Got to see a few of the kids who will be in daycare in my building, I miss them so much. And lots of meetings that had food which is always a bonus; especially when I don’t actually have to attend the meeting.

And speaking of school (sort of) Heather graduated a few months ago. But now that she’s got a job she gets to be ordained! So it’s off to the ceremony tomorrow and hang out and then performs the service. Yeah! And she moves back to one of my favorite towns to work in.

    9 Months (revised)

I’ve been blogging for nine months. I’ve accomplished part of what I wanted. I’ve got random people reading and finding my ramblings (random wasn’t a big mission, but I need at least a few people to read it). I started the first part as being very nice and never complaining too much. I migrated that to a blog for talking (and occasionally whining) but wondering is anyone listening? and occasionally finding out that they are.

At the same time I needed a 12 step program due to too much meme-img. To feed this addiction I created two small meme-sites (http://thedailymeme.com/ (and a sub-site of lost memes ) that list daily, weekly, monthly and other memes to help people find more. Some of the odd one-short of propagating things and some of the odder memes arein the lost section of the same site. This was a accidental byproduct of memeing.

I have my gizmoboy site and that’s all but ready to go. But just haven’t found the time to finish it and get it on-line.

I did do a London Blog for my recent trip which generated a lot of friend/family interest in that it was just for them. I separated the London info from my regular blog to keep the non-regular-readers from finding it by accident. If they want to read it, go ahead, but I’m not going to accidentally show them my “inner stuff” if they can’t find it…. or at least ask for it.

    Karma? dis-Synchronicity?

  • So on Saturday I was thinking about one friend and I hadn’t gotten in touch for a while and that I had been (extra) remiss in keeping in touch. That night I get an e-mail from his wife (with a techie question), what are the odds?
  • Same day I was thinking about a friend who I hadn’t heard from in a while. Health problems for her and her husband, I’ve called every so often and gotten different answering machine messages so I assumed the messages were getting through. Sunday morning I noticed on my caller ID a call from their number. I didn’t really want to play it since I was pretty sure it wasn’t good news. But what are the odds of a phone call from them? And the last time she called late at night in crisis mode was the same night my step-father took a turn for the worse before he passed away. Just odd coincidences. (Finally caved and played the message, not good news, but not horrible either. But her comments about not calling back were very similar to my thoughts about not keeping in touch with the other friend.)
  • Saturday night on the way home (a very nice ride by the way) I drove by a nice park, I’m sure I’ve driven that way at least once (maybe twice before) but somehow not noticed it (but it’s huge). Saw a nice church made a notation of the times but didn’t get up in time. Was thinking about the other stuff during the day on Sunday went over to the park to relax and decided to go to church instead. The only one I’ve every gone to around here. The one with the super-friendly Father with the accent so strong you aren’t surprised when you find out her does sermons at another parish completely in Polish. I come out afterwards get inside and the radio is playing (odd) and they I realize the steering column is broken from when they tried to steal it while I was inside. A very odd anti-coincidence. Maybe more of an odd series of circumstances that let to me getting some negative feedback for going to church instead of rollerblading. :)

Just odd how things happen. I know there is a reason they call them coincidences but it’s just odd.
