1. Who or what is on your computer’s wallpaper?
Nothing (boring). It’s usually just distracting for me. I’ll set it after/during a vacation. The last was London.
2. Go through your DVD/pre-bought video collection. Which three actors or actresses feature the most in them?
Without looking, I’d say Drew Barrymore (Boys on the Side/Ever After). Now that I look I’d have to add Keanu Reeves (3 Matrix) and Liv Tyler (Armageddon/Stealing Beauty). My collection is pretty diverse. Unless it’s music I usually don’t buy DVDs, unless it’s a really good deal.
3. Go through your book shelves. Which three authors have written the majority of the books?
Diane Duane and Neil Gaiman and Mauve Binchey
4. And what about CDs?
Tori, Indigo Girls and Sarah McLachlan (they probably are who I have the most DVDs of too).
5. Open up the picture folder(s) on your hard drive. Of which actor/actress/movie/tv series/musician do you have the most pictures?
Hmm… Don’t really have a “picture” folder like that. Got a lot of stuff on the desktop I was using for posts: Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell), David Pogue (geek), Joan of Arcadia, Wimbledon…

BurnIt Summer 2004

I sent out my Burn It CDs late (but it was more than a few days ago, so if you didn’t get yours it’ll be there any minute) the theme was songs from movies. I was in two BurnIt groups (so I had six people sending CDs to me (actually I only had packages from five of them) and I had to send to the six of them and the coordinator.

I was nervous at first Alfie sent hers’ out way early and the packaging was beautiful. Great cover, printed CD, artwork for the back and inside (behind the CD). Even her printing on the envelope was great. Very professional and I don’t think it’s related to her major. She set the bar very high, the rest had some nice ones and some plain ones so I was feeling better for mine. Mine might have been in 2nd place for looks but I was still left in her dust.

I do have one complaint about iTunes, until you burn you don’t know how long your disc is, I mean who measures time by saying 1.1 hours?!?

Some were songs I liked, some were artists and some were movies I liked that I wanted a song from. It was hard since some of the movies just have a great sound track (Some Kind of Wonderful, The Lost Boys, Pretty in Pink, Boys on the Side, Bill and Ted’s, City of Angels, etc.) Here’s the track listing if you’re curious.

I Got the Music in Me – Friday Forum

1] You’re making a CD mix titled, “The Soundtrack of My Life.” Which songs would you include, and why?
Specific songs? I don’t know all of the titles but I know I’d start with one or two from each of the following. Tori Amos (something from the early years), Indigo Girls (early), Sarah Mclachlan (two or three from Sufacing?), Carly Simon (the cover she did of the theme from Casablanca), Jewel (the first two albums), Alanis (the one of the City of Angels soundtrack), Big Bird doing the ABC song. I might look up specifics later, but it’s been a long week…
2] What is your favorite song right now?
Probably one of the new Liz Phair songs, she’s been getting a lot of play by me lately. Maybe “My Favorite Underwear” that one always makes me smile.
3] You’re feeling down, sad, lonely, frustrated, angry … which song[s] do you play to help yourself feel better?
Usually some older stuff. Either an 80’s retro mix (the more dance type stuff, but always including Tainted Love) or a GoGo’s deluxe mix (GoGo’s, Jane Weidlan, Belinda, The Graces all shuffled up).
4] Do you watch the TV show “American Idol”? Why/why not? Who do you think will win the competition?
Not at all. It just doesn’t pose any interest to me.
5] Do most of your friends generally share your taste in music?
A lot of my female college friends like the earthier stuff, the guy friends liked the retro 80’s stuff. Current friends all like a little bit of one part and someone likes part of another.

I keep thinking am I picking songs from various eras to be the sound track or do I actually want to words to convey my life? I’m sure I’m over thinking this… But I’ve got a little bit of both…

These are all the DVDs I own, many are music. I’m not a big movie collector but I’ve picked up a few here and there. Most of the movies were really good deals (many were under $10, if not $8) even with shipping but they still show my taste(?). I should have slightly editied since there were a few (Analyze This, The Mask) that I wouldn’t have bought but came free with a player. SO click on the icon to check them out.

FYI – ‘Flight of the Navigator’ is the best movie every (and it’s by Disney). ‘A Christmas Story’ is great too, I’m not sure why it isn’t in the list?!?

“It was you…”

They said they’d never release Roswell on DVD. They said that it would cost to much for all the music rights. But it just came out on DVD. But they said they couldn’t because… Oh. I got it… They changed the music…

I’m better now. Let’s get back on topic.

I’ve seen the first episode again (and again). It’s proably my most watched show ever (except maybe Sports Night but that’s another story). It’s a great show: aliens, kids tricking the authorities, a festival, Sarah McLachlan, Area 51, Jonathan Frakes and more great music. What could be better than that?

It starts off with Liz writing in her journal and a flashback to the Crashdown Cafe . Two customers in the cafe get in an argument and Liz accidentally gets shot and then Max heals her. It’s a great scene, great visuals, great music (did I mention Sarah?), just plain great. The sheriff’s dad used to believe in aliens and now he’s starting to believe. Did I mention that Liz is dating the sheriff’s son? It just gets better from there. :)

Did I tell you it’s a really good episode? If they changed any of the music, I didn’t notice anything. But I think the band was the same one who did some of the background music for the original episodes (but I could be wrong on that). It had a (minor) deleted scene, but I think it’ll be fun to seen them all again. They’re mildly widescreened (letterboxed), I don’t think they originally were. Well, I’m happy that’s it’s out and just needed to say so.
