Reflections on Blogging

Sarah B. (at drunkenbee) while commenting on her new design and reflecting on blogging had this to say that made me laugh.

When I began this site I had exactly two committments every day. I had to wake up and go to sleep. In between these committments I had a relatively large amount of time to, say, pick my nose pristine and write a story about it.

She doesn’t post often enough but she’s always pretty funny…

Need a spot for your blog? Try IlohaBlog!

Found new blogging service that I like. It’s called IlohaBlog and it’s at http://ilohablog.com/ (no longer in service). It’s got comments, links and trackbacks, categories*, archives, RSS, links (with different categories), extended entries and support the MT posting API (so if you use a client like Ecto, it works). Includes a “recently updated blogs” list on the front page. Oh and did I say it’s free!

Why was I looking for this? Because I was poking around looking at Expression Engine (because I like the way they do categories) and wanted to see if Ecto supported posting to it and found a list of items it did support and started geeking around with it.

Back to IlohaBlog — It’s easy to use, free, and it seemed nice enough for me to post about it. I think it might get my next few recommendations that I give to people for a place to start… It’s really got everything you need to get going. The web interface might even be basic enough to use from a cell phone.

breakdAwn

So I mentioned to Dawn the other day that I really thought blogging is something that she’d like to do. That was less than 24 hours ago and she’s up and running! So far four entries and she’s been already changing the layout!

Ecto is here!

Remember when I mentioned Kung-Log a while back? Well, now the first public beta of Ecto is out.

Us poor Mac people don’t even have the formatting toolbar when editing our Movable Type. But now we (and other brand bloggers) have this excellent editor for OS X! Create thumbnails, edit different blogs, easily use categories, post drafts, customize your own HTML commands, save drafts on the hard drive (if not on-line) and edit (yes, I said edit) previous posts and it has a spell check. It’s really great if you like to blog. It’ll even use your CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) to show you the previews!

I can post wirelessly!!!

I’m so excited!!! I can post wirelessly to my blog via the cell phone. I don’t know how often I’ll use this feature but it’s nice to know that it’s an option. I just love technology!

It’d probably be just as easy to hook the phone up to my laptop, but I’ll sleep better knowing that I can. ;)
