Awesome Television
Grey's Anatomy just keeps getting better and better! I'm not sure if it was a great episode this week, but it had a lot of great sub-parts/scenes. (Sorry no quotes this week)
And speaking of great television Joan of Arcadia comes out on DVD this week!!!! I haven't been as excited about Joan this season but I'm looking forward to season one again...

Air and Land Safety
So it's been a while since I watched Joan (and this week's was a rerun) but at some point in the show (burnout) God says, “It's like everyone has something better to do. Until they're on a plane, and then they're all over me”. I'm not going to worry about the context I'm just wondering why people feel that way. What makes people so fearful to fly? Everyone knows it's way safer to fly than drive (I have no statistics on this, I'm just assuming you know it's a fact) so why freak out about a plane crash. Most people haven't had a 'close call' on a plane, while many may have had one in a car. Many people are on their way to have some fun somewhere, so they shouldn't be worrying about anything (except maybe that they left the iron on at home). Once you get up there, it's beautiful to look down day or night (IMHO). They don't worry when they get in the car and they're the ones in control (now that's something to be scared of). Most people can't even signal properly, it's amazing they don't have more dents in the car already. Although one thing is with the car is that you can have minor injuries, it's not often you hear of a minor plane accident. Okay, I'm going to end this now since it's starting to sound a little morbid... I just wanted to know

It's been a year, what's changed (technologically and me)?
So it's been a year since I started this blog. I've typed hundreds of entries (I don't think I made the 500 mark yet). I've changed many parts of it:
I've tried to stay away from whining and complaining too much, but sometimes cars get broken into and sometimes people die and sometimes BK screws up my order so I need to vent a little. I'm about in the same place in life as a I was last year: single, childless and still looking to make those changes. (As much as people complain about it I'd rather be spending time this month assembling bicycles or cribs or whatever.)
Even though I created The Daily Meme I've become less of a meme-a-holic which I've been missing so I think I'll go back to those silly quizzes as a way to express things about myself...

The saddest Joan ever
This episode was probably the saddest ever. It might be the saddest show I ever saw on television. What I don't understand is why can't they make an episode and make my laugh that hard?
And I'm really nervous that Joan is going to lose it and their going to send her back to cRaZy cAMp. By herself...
Which is pretty scary considering she's probably got a grip better than most of the other people in Arcadia.

More Joan
So Now that I'm getting back into Joan, I feel that her friend from cRaZy camp is the most normal of her group...
And I found this interesting piece of fan art.

Joan of Arcadia
I'd kinda not been excited about getting back into Joan this season. I didn't remember liking the season finale. So tonight I sat down to watch Veronica Mars and they decided to play a rerun. So I gave Joan a chance.
I really liked the season finale! So now I'm all geeked about catching up on the others. I guess by the time the weekend rolls around I'll even have another episode to watch...
This might not seem like a very big deal it's just a silly show, right?!? NO! It's a great show and if you go all the way back in the archives (to entry number 000001) you'll see she's what got me blogging in the first place.

But why not Joan...
I know I'm the huge Joan of Arcadia fan, but I'm behind and I need to see the season finale again and I just need to be in the mood. And I ain't been there yet. But I will be...

just put it down.
From JoA - "Everyone has a part of themselves that they don't like. They carry it around like a weight. But what they have to do is know when to set it down". Maybe not an exact quote but the idea is there. Just set it down, ignore it, live the other 99.9% of your life. I know it's a lot easier to say it than to do it. But sometimes we forget it. I know other's do and I know I do too. I just thought it was an interesting thing to hear. It was a rerun of Joan and about everyone being upset or bothered about something.
I just really liked the thought. I'll be thinking about it for a bit...

A new episode of Joan Tonight!
There is a new episode of Joan of Arcadia on tonight, it you watched last weeks, you need to try again, it was one of my least favorite episodes so give Joan a chance if you haven't seen it yet. Eight PM on CBS.
Oops! My mistake it wasn't a new one. But you still should have watched it...

Theme songs
So every time I watch two of my favorite shows I smile when I hear the theme sonngs
- I'm With Her - A superstar dating a regular guy with the theme "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" (by Rhett Miller performed by Sugar Ray)
- Joan of Arcadia - A girl who meets God embodied in regular people with the theme "(What If God Was) One Of Us(?)" (by Eric Bazilian performed by _Joan Osborne)
What's also interesting is the both are questions (kind of). I'll be paying more attention to the other themes that I like more... I like the opening credit sequences too, which I normally just TiVo past.
And don't forget this Friday is a new episode of Joan!

Extra Busy...
I don't know where the time has gone... I've been working on a few projects and things but not my blog (actually a little, just not stuff you've seen yet. I've been at one of my favorite conferences MACUL did a presentation (that I've never done before) that went well. Missed two Liz Phair concerts (wasn't feeling well so I couldn't do to the drive to Chicago and back), she did a regular concert and played at the Apple Store the next day. So since I didn't go there I didn't get to see Heather either... But she's in England with Nan for the so she might have some extra interesting posts this week. Finally bought an Xbox to play / hack around with, trying to install Linux, no success yet, but it's been fun (anyone in the Detroit/Dearborn area who can offer me some help...?). Reading some books which I never seem to remember to comment on. The EXTRA nice part is it's been sunny the last few days and that's always nice in the winter!

You can't play the game unless you know the rules.
Of course you can, you just might not win in the opinion of the other players. Rules do help since they what not to do. That's what rules generally do, right? Tell you what not to do. "Have a nice day!" isn't a rule (but it should be). I'm kind of babbling I just thought it was an interesting sticker. I guess I could have just posted it without any text...
But the rules thing actually made me think about Joan this week. The talk was about choices, actually making choices, and wouldn't it be easier if we knew the outcome and could make the "correct" choice. It wouldn't really be a choice then now would it. It's interesting on how God "bullies" Joan into doing things but talks about choices and outcomes and such.
Back to the rules thing, rules are good, just people need to know when they can be broken. At McDonalds, a cheeseburger comes with ketchup, pickle, onions and mustard (right?) that's on their list of rules on how to make a sandwich. Wouldn't it be crazy if every McDonalds made their burgers different? But you can make a special order (thank God for that!) and change that rule so there are no pickles or mustard on it. If you asked nice they'd probably even put BBQ sauce on it, which would be way against the rules (but they might charge you two bits). So sometimes they are good and they let me 'have it my way'.

More Joan than one could hope for!
The People's Choice Awards honor Joan_ of Arcadia as best new television drama. CBS picked it up for another season!
Two and a Half Men won best comedy and also was renewed for next season. It's pretty funny, it's the most sitcom-ish thing I watch on TV.

My Favorite Sub-Defective
Joan always seems that she's some kind of outcast at school (sub-defective is her term). I'm not sure why, other than the fact that she communicates with God, she's relatively normal. It's not so much an esteem thing so I'm not sure why. She does have this level of cluelessness when dealing with friends (boys). Even "rocket-boy" (her geeky brother) seems more genius than outcast. An excellent show as always but the personalities were throwing me off a little more than normal.
Recreation is to re-create, to redefine, or to define that which isn't defined. That was the title of today's show. It was an attempt to define things that weren't, although I'm still confused about Joan's definition. Things... not... defined...

The End is Almost Here!
I cannot believe it's the almost the end of the week already! It's been a busy week I'm getting closer to being done with the 'Help/Support Blog' at work. I love Movable Type! I want to do everything in it.
A year from now I'm going to be at the CES show in Las Vegas! I never got around to making arrangements this year, but next year it's a must! I saw Leo on TV today giving his report on the new toys that are going to be out soon.
Don't forget a new episode of Joan of Arcadia is on tomorrow. And the season premier of Stargate-SG1.
Only one more day for Heather on her big exams (GOEs). Seven questions over 4 days (1/2 day for 6, all day for one)!
It'll be the weekend soon and I can be outside during the day! It's dark out all the time and I'm tired of it.

I Forgot About Fireworks!
So I forgot all about fireworks the other day when I was talking about looking into the light!
Why do I bring up fireworks when it isn't July?!? Because I took a nap today and work up to the sound of fireworks and when I opened the blinds I could see a pretty good display. They sounded pretty close but I think the city of Dearborn must have been putting them on (which would be about a mile away). By the way if I didn't mention it, I love fireworks! But then who doesn't! (I believe this was an event at Greenfield Village)
And I got to see Joan of Arcadia today!

Don't Forget to Watch Joan Tomorrow!
Joan_ of Arcadia is on Friday at 8 PM (Eastern) don't forget to watch it!
Joan is a normal girl who meets God one one day and God gives her tasks to do.
Joan is what motivated me to start blogging (from an earlier entry):
"She gets these incredible tasks and she does them because it's God. But I'm not sure if it's faith or knowing that it's all going to turn out okay (or is that faith?). Sometimes she's done bad things to make things be good in the long run, but no one understands why it's the 'knowing' that makes her stick to it, but I'm not sure if this ties into the faith since she 'knows'. Is it a sign from god if you don't have to interpret the signs?"PLEASE Leave comments (or trackbacks/pings)

I Love "Joan of Arcadia" (and you should too!)
Can I tell you how much I like Joan of Arcadia? I like it enough that it got me to finally set up a blog. Joan is a normal girl who meets God one one day and God tells her what to do. Not unlike the voices in people's heads she generally doesn't tell people why she is doing these things.
God tells (suggests) her to ask ask the school trouble-maker to the "Crystal Ball", the semi-formal, and (of course) does not tell her why. This really comes down to preconceptions (the series deals A LOT with them) about people. She defends him and listens to him and and even ties his tie for him. She was nice to him. In the end she saves the world or at least the world of a few people, just by being nice. It's not so hard being nice and it's a lot more fun than the other. And of course she gets grounded for it.
She gets these incredible tasks and she does them because it's God. Is it a sign from god if you don't have to interpret the signs?
I'm sure I'll talk more about the show later, but for now, it's where you should be on Friday nights (at 8 pm Eastern), unless of course you have TiVo.
