Tech Tourist
I’ve been there a few times, with mixed results. First of all, they have a lawn where you are allowed to bring a picnic basket. There is good sound on the lawn, but NO view of the stage.
There is a pavilion as well, with the stag view, but you are not allowed to bring a picnic basket into the pavilion. If I had been told that ahead of time, I wouldn’t have had the evening ruined for me by employees that don’t give a rat’s ass.
Also, if you have pavilion seats, and the performer is singing, you will not be seated until the song is over. This is infuriating when the song is “Alice’s Restaurant.”
If you don’t need to see as well as hear, and want to munch, the lawn is very nice. If you want the pavilion instead, it is small and every seat is a good one.
My last time there was in the early 90’s or so, so if it no longer matches m memory, my apologies.
The first thing I thought of when I saw your post was to let you know about this link http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=9009196 to a great interview of Amy and Emily on NPR two months ago. It is worth surfing to and hearing.
But THEN my next thought (as I sit here typing this on a *Friday night* was of THIS cartoon: http://xkcd.com/c187.html
Well, I’m going to at least put my running shoes on and catch the last few minutes of tonight’s sunset.
Good tantalizing tip about the Indigo Girl’s concert schedule.
S.S. Badger Ferry Boat Trip
So right now I’m on the S.S. Badger heading over to Wisconsin so that tomorrow I can go to Lincoln Park, IL to see that Brandi Carlile / Indigo Girls concert I mentioned a few weeks ago. I’ve been bouncing around up north for the last few days and now…
Indigo Girls AND Brandi Carlile in Lincoln Park Illinois
This was the best concert!! It wasn’t just Brandi Carlile opening for Indigo Girls, a good part of it was Indigo Girls AND Brandi Carlile together!!! Not only that, it was like the concert that wouldn’t end! Tey just kept singing! I went way early and …
Joe,
You weren’t kidding. The is absolutely NO view of the stage from the lawn (maybe 3 or 4 lawn spots along the size, but sine people stand there on the sidewalk it doesn’t really matter).
In the pavilion you can’t bring any drinks other than bottled water, not even drinks you purchase there.
I saw some people bring in some things that they must have used on the lawn when they came into sit though (not sure of the contents).
And they did seat me while songs were playing, maybe it’s an artist request thing.
The lawn is definitely just a place to hang out. But for tickets for 1/2 the price it might be fun if you lived nearby.
Since I drove in from Dearborn (Detroit, MI) I’m glad I exchanged my ticket for a pavilion seat.
