Why is is so quick to get takeout at a Chinese Restaurant when it takes SO long at a “fast food” joint?

I don’t know about your area, but most of the Chinese resteraunts here are all you can eat buffets. When they have a take-out order they pull it together off of what’s already on the buffet, so it’s already pre-made, and ready to go. Fast food… often times they may have the food cooked but not put together. I don’t know. Maybe I’m shooting in the dark here and trying to spread a liberal amount of B.s. but it seems as good an explanation as any.
Because it’s easier to kill a cat than it is a cow.
Good question! I prefer chinese to fast food anyways.
Thats cause they got pride and skills, not like the low wage workers at you local fast food joint. Yes, I know the Chinese restaurant workers also makes crap for a wage.
It seems most chinease dishes are made up of the same basic ingredients. Also, one the food is prepared, it will keep for a good while if kept at the proper temperature. McDonnalds has a problem where they can’t keep a cooked burger under the heat lamps for more then an hour. So in this case, they don’t cook burgers ahead of time unless it is the lunch hour and the demand is high.
Our local Chinese takes as long to deliver as the Pizza place. I don’t worry about the time frame so much really. My main criteria is does the place deliver so I don’t have to go out and get the food. If I’m too lazy to cook, I’m sure as hell not gonna waste my time in the car.
I don’t like Chinese all that much. I quite like Indian though, and I’m happy to wait for it to be cooked fresh.
I find with fast food places, like McDonald’s and the like, it’s either immediatly fast (i.e. it’s been sitting around for hours on a hot plate), or it takes just as long to appear anyway.
I’d rather wait for something decent.
