$2.99

It’s sad, but I was excited last night to only pay $2.99 for a gallon of gasoline.

In case you’re from the Michigan Detroit-area, the $2.99 stations I saw yesterday were: the Meijer at 14 and Coolidge, a station at 10 and Coolidge, also a startion at Ann Arbor Trail and Telegraph. YMMV (ha!)

  1. Right now the price is $6.99 per US gallon here in Finland. :(

  2. I saw a BP station yesterday close to Dix & Oakwood (on Dix) where the price for regular unleaded was 2.79!

  3. Wow! A few friends mentioned they saw a few more $2.99s but the news keeps talking like it’s going up…

I get gas over that way a bit when I’m in the Allen Park/Brownstown area. That intersection is usually cheap but the one on the corner you can’t charge at the put and they make you go inside to pay at the pump first. Yuk. But there are a few stations south of there that are usually trying to beat each other out.

I haven’t had to pay over $3 yet, it’s really gonna hurt pychologically when I do…

  4. If you’re lucky enough to find somewhere cheapish here for fuel – a quick calculation shows we are paying US$6.49 for the equivalent of 1 US gallon of fuel – and that’s minimum.

In most service stations though, we are topping the $7 mark.

I was surprised when I was in the US at how low the cost of fuel was – I filled up the car for around $25.

Though it was slightly embarassing having to ask somebody how the petrol pump worked – I didn’t realise you payed for fuel before dispensing it…
