An even bigger question... why in the heck didn't Annie and Obi use The Force to push the Buzz Droids off their ship? Did they suddenly forget how? Does The Force not work in space?

Yet another horrid Lucas plot-hole big enough to drive a Super Star Destroyer through. Did he let anybody with a lick of sense read the script before he shot this stuff?? Apparently not.

I really like the spare parts for R2 scenario. It's perfect and ties in with what we know about the future history.

The buzz droids being repurposed makes sense, but I think (unless you had a million in storage) it'd still be cheaper to put in bombs and keep the nice little motors and titanium (adamantium?) blades for their real purpose.

Was it a dead Jedi's power that allows them to communicate with Luke or was it Luke's great(er) power that allowed him to sense it? (I can't remember if Leia could see the others after they died).

He totally has a point. The rebels didn't have access to a lot of replacement parts and stuff, so Artoo's cool jets must have eventually just rusted away over time.

As for Obi-Wan learning how to communicate from beyond, I don't think he knew that he was preparing for his death; I think it was just something that Yoda thought would be important for him to learn since he was watching over Luke.

R2 is now on the rebel side, right? So as his parts break, he doesn't have ready access to replacements. Or Capt. Antilles' ship is out in the boonies somewhere that they don't have a lot of droid parts, or he simply can't afford it. Mebbe.

Maybe the buzz-droids were actually developed for use at dismantling stations to recycle dead ships (like the places we have in the far east that dismantle computers and whatnot), and the droids got re-purposed as attackers. I just read that troops in Iraq have been using little toy RC cars to test for IDE's... we run the car over to a suspicious container at the side of the road and ram it. If the container falls over, it's just a light, empty container. If it doesn't fall over, then it's more suspicious. If it explodes, you've lost an RC car.

I liked seeing Obi-wan pick up Darth's fallen light-saber, knowing what its destiny was.

Why did Yoda give Obi-wan an assignment for his stay on Tattooine, other than watching over Luke? Was that training for his own demise?
