Everyone’s definition of family differs and so do the types of things they’re thankful for. I’m thankful that I’m healthy, employed and have friends & family that care about me.

I thought this was pretty cool. Something that it seems like you’d only see in a movie, but this kid has one in his room (play room?).

It’s a short post because I liked the video and I wanted to test the WordPress feature that just let’s you put in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTxmTTisThY and it builds the rest of the embed code for you.

I’ll put how it worked here below after I test it:
It worked! The one things I don’t like is that it doesn’t put the video in the RSS or Atom feeds, I thought it would put a thumbnail in the feed (I saw it on someone else’s blog) but it doesn’t appear to be happening. (Later) I see the video is embedded in my feed if I view it via Google Reader (but no thumbnail).

So “What do you think of holiday wish lists – tacky or useful? Do you make one for anyone? For whom if so? What is on your wish list this year?” is this week’s Friday Question.

I’ve always been hard to buy for, so I like the Amazon wish lists. It gives people some idea of what I want. They don’t have to buy off of it, but don’t act you have no idea what to get me when I’ve got a list of items from $10-$1000 :)

This is my wish list: a few books, Blu-Rays, a bike rack, a camera lens and a few other things. Feel free to shop for me *.

There is always concerts and such too, but it’s hard to surprise me with those kinds of things since you need to make sure I’m available (or didn’t already buy tickets). Plus, I’d rather be surprised.

On the other hand, do not tell me what to buy for you or some other family member. You can suggest something, but if I say yes, please don’t tell someone else the same item. Point me to a wish list if you like, but it’s my option. Although I do like it when children tell me what they’d like, especially if they don’t tell anyone else…

* The wish lists also have the option for someone you don’t know to buy you an item and have it shipped to you even if the sender doesn’t know your mailing address. Although, I’ve never received anything that way before.

What to say about this movie? It’s not for everyone, but it’s probably got a little of something in it for everyone.

  • A strange movie. For sure!
  • A good movie? I’m not sure.
  • Seriously oddly compelling? Definitely!
  • s it a movie? A comic book? A video game? Yes, it’s all three at the same time…

Scott’s got a new girlfriend, but to move along in the relationship, he must defeat her seven ex-boyfriends exes. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) Edgar WrightAlthough I’m not sure why he must defeat them, they’re just after him. She seems aware of it, but overall she doesn’t seem like “she” needs him to complete the task. You need to just accept this point and move along with the plot.

But it’s filled with many interesting scenes; I’m not saying they all make sense, but they’re interesting and have some cool effects.

In some bizarro way it made me think of what we leave in the wake of our old relationships… What perspective do the others have? What perspective do they have years later? Do they think “Gary who?” or “Gary, sigh…”? Hopefully somewhere in the middle and without too much anger or regret…

So I guess I shouldn’t complain about life too much. Things could certainly be worse.

Although, that’s not really true, one of the things I learned from volunteering at the shelter (and/or the crisis hotline) is that if you’ve got problems, it doesn’t matter if someone else has it worse, they’re still your problems (and you’ve got to work them out). Although, sometimes, diagrams like the above sometimes help to put them into perspective…Indexed Jessica Hagy

Jessica Nagy does these great diagrams on index cards on a great site called “Indexed” and she’s got a book or two (or three) out with similar types of content.
