Apple should add BlueTooth to iPods (Feature Request)

Bluetoothlogo2So I love my iPod but I hate the cords (the same goes for the cell phone). It needs bluetooth! It’s be better for the car (if the stereo from car had it) and it’d be better for walking, running, rollerblading, etc. I know people make some adaptors but Apple is such a BT supporter it really needs to be integrated (you could even sync via BT if you wanted).

Red, White and Blue

ItunesredwhiteblueThe iTunes song of the Week (this week) is Red, White and Blue by Rockie Lynne. If you’ve got iTunes click here and scroll down to the lower left to download it for free.

It’s country, which isn’t really my thing. But the thing that caught my eye in the description is when it said “it’s willing to admit that flag-waving isn’t enough anymore” and it preaches tolerance “but doesn’t shove it down your throat”. I’m patriotic in that I’m incredibly grateful for this wonderful country we live it (even with it’s flaws), but I’m not a huge red/white/blue kind of person. I was the same way at college too, I loved it at MSU and raved about it to people, but I was a student much more that I was a spartan and my green and white ward robe still suffers.

Happy 4th of July!!!

GoogleIdol.com with Lynne and Tessa

Have you heard of GoogleIdol.com? I hadn’t either until I stumbled on some “Lynne and Tessa” videos at Google. It’s amature American Idol-ish lip sync contest with your web cam.

Yeah, it’s strange but I was entertained enough to see what else they did. They “covered” from No Doubt to “Tom Jones” to Avril (and more).

I think they’re number 1 in the running so go vote for them. They have their own site (but it’s kinda bare) at http://www.lynne-tessa.de/

Free Word Processing and Spreadsheets

So speaking of free products for your computer there is Open Source (this means free) Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Presentation sotware called OpenOffice and it’s no where near as daunting to install as Linux is. OpenOffice is available for Windows and Linux the latest Alpha of the Macintosh version was just released yesterday. The Macintosh version is called NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha 4 (for OS X 10.3 or better) (Alpha means it’s still in testing).

Windows Me/98 RIP

In case you missed it:

Paid incident support and critical security updates for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me will end on July 11, 2006. No other security updates will follow after this date.

– Microsoft Web Site

This is interesting and I’m wondering what kind of security risks will this lead to? Have all the security bugs been found in these versions of Windows? If people still have computers running this OS are those machines capable of running Windows XP? Or Vista? Probably not, so are they going to spend the money on a new OS just so they can run Windows 2000?

I knew this was coming and I was reminded today by a Linux magazine called Tux (Tux is the penguin mascot for Linux) their “selling point” is it’s “The First and Only Magazine for the New Linux User”. I say “selling point” because like the Linux operating system, it’s free also. Do you see where I’m going with this? If you’re thinking of erasing your system anyways, why not try Linux now?

Audra part 2

So after Audra Kubat played last night, she was selling CDs and signing them and stuff. So I went and picked up an older one and got it signed. She’s very sweet and was chatty with people and I found out she plays locally at a place downtown somewhere a few times a month so I’ll be heading down there. I haven’t played the CD yet but I really enjoy the other one that I had. The TasteFest was a lot busier when we left, I bet it gets pretty crazy there over the weekend.

Plus, seeing her completes another one of my 101 in 1001 list items. You know, I just realized I never talked about her other than at the Aimme Mann concert, I put together some info and never posted it so here you go some info, reviews and probably enough mp3s to make your own little sampler CD:
