Terry Shiavo case on Weekend America

Weekend America had an interesting ten minute segment on the Terry Shiavo case this weekend. I thought it was interesteing and had a lot more info than the little 45 second snippets I mostly hear. I thought it was interesting enough to share. It’s available Real Audio or MP3 (go about 2 minutes in) (or as a podcast). Is it Terri or Terry? (Yes, I know it’s Theresa).

  1. Does anyone find it ironic that Terry Shiavo was in the condition she was in because she was suffering from bulimea? She was starving her body of food – the greatest source of consternation in the last couple of weeks. She was trying to fit the “American” standard – skinny and beautiful. Doesn’t anybody want to address that question? How do girls and little girls in America look at themselves – they all want to be the standard – based on skinny models and actresses? I think that’s the real question – there are laws that deal with the end of life – which is why Ms. Shiavo’s parents lost in every court they appealed to – but what are you doing to the children in your country, and mine, Canada. Half of them are obese and the other half are killing themselves trying to look like the people they see on TV. Any thoughts?

  2. Ashley Tisdale

ok first off i dont think that its right for her husband to have an affair while she was in the hospital because even though he said that he loved his wife you can tell that he didnt or else he wouldnt have had an affair and had 2 kids with the other woman that is ridiculous!!!!!

  3. i think its totally ridiculous to let a person starve to death and go without water. Why did her husband have the right to say that she should die? Why couldnt her parents care for her, they wanted to..he simply wanted to get rid of the burden i think…thats my opinion!

  4. The autopsy showed that her condition was not caused by bulimea. So is it still ironic?
