Sleep, Eat and ‘Net….

So I haven’t really done much at all today. So you get an “about my day” post. I’ve eaten a lot (and often) and had too way much Coca-Cola (but the last few had some Capt. Morgan’s in it so that’s okay). And I’ve been on the ‘net all day (at home, at Wendy’s, at the bar) catching up (and fixing) on things.

I did participate in a survey that I got $25 for (it might have been $25 for Amazon.com but that’s as good as cash to me). It was a survey about the new extra-secure security features in IE 7. The thing is, I’m not so worried about my information being intercepted en-route; I’m more worried about their servers being compromised after the fact (or someone losing their laptop). My real concern when shopping on-line is that “Bob’s Computer Shack” is just a place that “Bob” set up so he can steal my Charge Card information (he could even have an ultra secure certificate).

But tonight I need to drive to Ypsi to get a CAT scan of my hand. It’s been bugging me and it’s time to get it looked at. My problem is with chronic problems like this is they tend to not find a cause, which means they can’t find a solution. He has said he doesn’t think it’s anything carpel-tunnel or repetitive anything-ish. Continue reading

Woot Off! (It’s over)

Hey everyone, there’s a Woot Off today!!!

This means instead of one Woot all day, they add a new one every time an item sells out!

UPDATE: It’s Friday and the sale is still going on. (As I’ve said before, Woot has great sales once a day and a Woot Off is non-stop sales all day).

UPDATE 2: It’s all over. It lasted almost two days…

Woot Off Tonight!!

I think there’s a Woot Off tonight! “What’s Woot?” you ask? Woot is a deal site that offers one (1) deal a day starting at 1 am EST. Sometimes they last until morning, sometimes they only last a few minutes. Some items are new, some are OEM, some are refurbished. Shipping is $5 whether you buy one item or three.

A Woot Off is a special day where ones a Woot is sold out, they put another one up a few minutes later. Some items they have very limited amounts so the item doesn’t last very long. And you don’t know how long the sales are going to last (depends on how things sell). Be sure to to check it out…

Woot Off today!!!

I’m sure I’ve mentioned Woot before, they offer a great deal once a day (starting at 1 AM EST) that generally sells out pretty quick. Every so often they have a Woot Off, which means once an item sells out, they offer another one over and over (and repeat for about for 24-48 hours). So if you haven’t Woot-ed yet, now’s the time! It’s $5 for shipping no matter how many items you buy). Sometimes items are refurbished so if you’re fussy (I’m not) be sure to pay attention.

So I was talking in class tonight

So on a slight tangent in class tonight (I give a tech leadership class at a local university) I was passing on some ways to get cheap inexpensive technology (or other freebies you can get). And I gave away some of my best savings sites so I thought I would share them here too:

  • SlickDeals – they have all sorts of forums with free stuff (including free magazine subscriptions)
  • Woot – A daily deal at 1 AM EST every day (generally a tech-ish deal)
  • Grupare – Deals on all sorts of stuff
  • DealMac – which has great Apple & accessory deals and links to their PC, Camera, Memory, Ink and Coupon sites too!

There’s lots more around but these are the ones I check daily.

  • Woot off today!!!

So today Woot is having a Woot Off, this means instead of having one deal a day (at 1 am EST) they change the deal every time they run out of it (if they don’t run out, it only lasts 12 hours). A Woot-Off generally lasts 24-72 hours and happens once (or twice) a month. Sometimes these are refubs so pay attention (it’s listed up near the price, so you can’t miss it).

What’s this mean for you? Great deals all day long (as long as they keep selling out) for a few days. More about Woot.

    My very first Woot item…

Mskeyboardmouse-1I was lying here (not sleeping) and I saw on the clock it was almost one o’clock in the morning (Eastern) which means there’s a Woot item for sale. Woot puts one item for sale clearance a day at this time every day. Whenever I’ve checked it’s either sold out (usually in the first 10-30 minutes) or something I don’t want. But tonight…

I ended up with a Microsoft wireless keyboard and optical mouse for 22.95 (+$5 s & h). And it’s Mac compatible!
