Holiday Best Wishes For Everyone!

Have a great a happy holiday and / or vacation!

Be nice to everyone!
It’s easier to smile than to frown (it’s a scientific fact) and the results are always better (another fact).
Drive safe!
If you’re a few minutes late everyone will still be there. (I promise).
Don’t fight with your parents! Or your kids!
It really doesn’t matter who’s right. (Although, I sure like to be right).
It’s not the dollar$ $pent, it’s really the thought.
It really is, think about the times you’re gotten a useless gift, or thought they spent too much. (Yes, I know it’s nice to get expensive gifts).
Be thankful for everything and everyone you have!
It’s all you have so take care of all of it and them.

Just smile and be nice to everyone as much as you can for the next few weeks…

Fortunate Friday – Friday Fun

1. What are you most fortunate for, right now at this stage in your life?
I guess my health and my job. Both have been very good to me lately. :)

2. What do you wish you were fortunate enough to have? Is it attainable?
A wife and a child or two (that’s two kids, not wives). Attainable: The latter definitely (at least with adoption). The wife I just need to find the right one and have her think the same thing (still working on that).

3. Name one thing about each person in your immediate family that makes you feel fortunate to have them in your life.
My Mom is really my only definable immediate family, I don’t really see my father. She’s always been there when I need her! She’s pretty low maintenance too (although I don’t think that’s what was meant by fortunate).

Baker’s Dozen

The idea is to come up with twelve thoughts and one pic to describe your weekend. easter04b

  1. Chocolate.
  2. “Yes Mom, I have the ham”
  3. Lots of stairs (I’m on the third and fourth floors).
  4. “Gary! Watch me Gary!”
  5. Lots of Ordevores and Desserts.
  6. “Why do you have so many remotes?”
  7. ’13 Going on 30′ was really fun.
  8. Lots of Cleaning needed to be done. (Now I need to sort the piles I hid in the closet.)
  9. Four kids and eleven adults at my condo. That might be a new record.
  10. Lots of Coca-Cola
  11. Spilt Milk, down a flight of carpeted stairs and all over the wall.
  12. Chocolate.

Family Traditions – The Saturday-8

I don’t know if I’m going to do this one weekly but I liked it so…

  1. Do you have a specific and unique rule that you or your family follow at the dinner table? I always insist that the food is hot (warmed plates). My step-father always insisted that you wait for the cook. These kinda cancel out each other sometimes. But I think it might be the latter rule that caused me to start the first one!
  2. What is a specific activity, behavior or tradition that occurs in your family during certain holidays or birthdays? If it’s a funeral (or related to) it’s likely that we get Chicken Shack chicken. For some reason we started this with my grandfather and it just stuck. Actually from a small stash of money he had, we used it to buy the chicken. :)
  3. How do the various members of your family greet each other? What about extended family such as cousins, aunts or uncles? Hugs for the women, handshakes for the men.
  4. How do you or your family treat visitors to your house? Are there different treatments for different visitors? If it’s an event of sorts, I’m always in the kitchen getting drinks/food and stuff. Otherwise they know where the ‘fridge is.
  5. What foods are special or unique to your family? Nothing that I can think of, but many of us put syrup on scrambled eggs. It’s really good, you should try it.
  6. What names do you use to call your grandparents or other older relatives? Just the regular grandma/grandpa/aunt/uncle terms.
  7. What values have you learned from your parents? How to save (or I guess not to waste) and how not to treat different people different.
  8. From what countries have your ancestors immigrated? Holland and Germany (not sure on the other side). Grandma was off the boat and I think grandpa was born here.
