Cool iPod Touch ad on-line

I really like the way Apple did this iPod Touch ad.

I couldn’t see it when I went to http://games.yahoo.com/, I assume I need to be running Windows? I tried Safari and Firefox.

Here’s the direct link. I found this at MacRumors.

Don’t Vote!

Don’t watch this video! Lots of stars in it (telling you what not to do).

I thought it was a fun video, but it gets a little long at the end. Watch at least the first 90 seconds and pass it on to a few (5) friends.

And don’t forget to register! Depending on where you live you have to do it in the next few days…

I spotted this video over at Eclecticism + It’s like I’m Magic and thought I’d pass it along…

Blog Advertising

I have started running some Text Link Ads on the left side of the page. I apologize that I ‘sold out’ for that, but I’d much rather have someone else pay for my hosting than pay for it myself :)

Most of the other ads on the site I pick what goes where, but I make so little on those, most will be gone soon. Most of little bits of money I make from ads are from Google or Amazon (and the Amazon ones are really hit or miss). Many times when mention a book or movie or something and you follow the link to Amazon or Buy.com, Wal-Mart or iTunes and you shop there, I make a few pennies (or more) from your purchase and you shouldn’t have to pay a penny more. Not all of the links are affiliate links, just when it’s something at one of the places I’ve signed up with, otherwise it’s just regular link.

I’d just love to figure out how to make enough on-line from ads while sitting on the beach in Costa Rica. So consider these part of the “Gary Should Move to Costa Rica Fund”!

Actually, if you’re shopping this holiday season and are going to shop at any of the above stores anyways, just follow any of my links to get to the only store of your choice and you can support my Costa Rica fund instead of letting Amazon (or one of those other guys) keep that commission?!?

Creative Advertisments

Creativeadvertisements01I thought this was a cool ad, the hand straps on the bus make it look like you’re wearing a watch!

There are more where I got this one at Creative Advertisements Around the World. I really like the last one with the headlights! And the Duracell one…

$400 bucks a month (or a free car) to drive around a car with advertising.

Pringles Drivers.Freecarmedia.ComGet a free car or get $400 a month to drive yours. If you get a car from them it looks like it cover maintenance and tires too. I’m not sure how I feel about this but if it was a product I loved and I could make (up to) $400 a month, that doesn’t seem to bad.

If you are chosen, you will receive a new car, wrapped in an attractive advertisement, to use for two years or you will be given the option to wrap the vehicle that you currently own and get paid up to $400 a month.

I could drive something like a TiVo, Apple, SixApart, some musical performer I like or a travel costa rica wrapped car. I’ve said before I like my convertible because I can put the top down, not because it’s sporty and I could be happy driving a box. Well, it would definitely take away any considerations of being sporty and getting paid would be nice… Continue reading

PopUps anyone?

So I think I’ve removed the side widget that was causing popups. I haven’t gotten many complaints (I think since even the most basic blockers stop it, I’ve never even noticed it with Safari) but it annoyed me that it was there. I don’t think that web link exchange widget (link2blogs.com) was generating much traffic anyways.

If anyone is still getting me popups, please let me know.

Product Placement Dreaming

So I was going to finish up the followup to the Alex Rider post before I hopped in the sack but then I remembered I didn’t mention my dreams!

So I’ve had odd dreams lately (the last two days) with lots of advertising. This is odd for several reasons, I generally don’t remember my dreams and when I remember them as well as I did this morning they’re usually normal, as in I’m not sure if the stuff really happened or not.

So back to the advertising dream: I think I was in Cingular (which I actually needed to go to today) and there were people there in Dominoes’ uniforms trying to sell me a Dell. They made a phone call to their friends who were at Taco Bell and wanted to meet up with me and we were going to go eat and get eggs or omelets or something like that. Oh and I think the friend’s played on a baseball team, which I would assume is the Tigers since Dominoes’ owned them at one time.

The Power of Yahoo! Banner Ads

SpisearchresultsSo I can’t believe how many search hits I get I get on this blog as a result of this “eating spiders” ad campaign from Yahoo! It’s bringing more visitors to this site than I can imagine. And I’m getting the weirdest comments to it. Some of it’s just some people screwing around but it’s still unbelievable as to how many results I’m getting from it. I’m not scoring as high on the search results (I was in the top 5-10 on many variations, but now I don’t even make the first pages for most of the searches that make it here) but I’m still getting massive hits.

All I can say is this Yahoo ad is getting people to click around and that’s for sure. I’m not sure what such a massive campaign would cost but it seems effective from my end.
