I never realized that Patricia Arquette’s character on Medium, Allison DuBois, was based on a real person.
She came out with a book called Don’t Kiss Them Goodbye. It looks like she got a 3 book deal (at least Amazon lists two more).

ive just finished reading we are their heaven, how enlightening it was, it has helped me with some of my grieving.i do have one important question to ask though as you talk alot about remembering the good times you have with the deceased but what if you give birth to a still born? How do they come through as they have not had the chance to have any life experiences? If i am not catholic do they still go to heaven as i was once told by a priest if you are not catholic there is no guarantee your soul will go to heaven. These are some of the questions i constantly ask myself. I know after reading this book there would be so many other mums out their that have lost a child that didnt get the chance to take one single breath would probably be thinking the same thing.What about my precious little one wherre are they and how would they communicate.

I am reading your book “We are their Heaven”. In the past 9 months we have lost 5 immediate family members, it has been a devasting year for us. The loss of a loved one is always heartbreaking but the loss of our 27yoa son has just about killed us. I have always been a beliver of the other side and have always been atuned to their messages. 2 months before we lost our darling son I had dreams about my PaPa (the best grandfather anyone could have}in these dreams he never told me anything but I always awoke with a wonderful sense of well-being, my 1st dream about my grandfather was that he kissed me on the cheek, I felt his beard stubble and could smell his tobacco pipe scent. The next morning when my husband & I were drinking coffee I told my husband how sweet he was to have kissed me on the cheek last night. His reply startled me at first, he said “Honey I didn’t kiss you on the cheek last night or this morning,I knew then it was my PaPa. Then I tried to understand why he had come to me and comforted me. My father is 81 and not in great health{just worn out)I quickly assumed that PaPa was trying to tell me that Daddy would die soon. I then called my sister and then my brother and told them both that I thought Daddy was going to die soon. They both called our Daddy the same as I did and told him everything we needed to tell him What a good Dad he was, etc. etc.I had this dream in August and then on October 7 at 8am our phone rang and it was the Sheriff’s Department, they said “Get to the hospitall fast, your son has had an automobile accident and it is pretty bad”. This is the one phone call that is a nightmare for parents. We didn’t get to see our son alive. He was given 15 pints of blood and everything done to try and save his life. It was Jay’s time and nothing or anyone could do anything to keep him from crossing over. I now know that my PaPa was letting me know everything would be alright, that he, my mother and others were waiting on Jay and would take care of him. My husband is a skeptic, even though he wants to belive. Jay has not come to either of us in our dreams or any other way that we reconize. Allison, for my husbands sake I am trying to contact you. He so badly needs to know that our loved ones our with us. WHen I mentioned in the beginning we had lost 5 close famly members in 9 months I was referring to his Grandmother and his father, and his grandmother, and my brother, {the one I called and told him I thought Daddy would die soon} He died under very mysteriious circumstances. An autopsy was performed but we have no results yet. He was 39 and in good health. We feel like his wife is hiding something from us, his family. Read your first two books, thank you so much for making me feel so good about life and death. Love your straight forward and humble approach to your writings. Our family is very concerned about my son’s missing friend, and the turmoil that this missing person’s family has been going through for the past year already. This person was a fine upstanding person, gainfully employed with a close family and an excellent future. The family is going through much stress in just not knowing what has happened. We feel that this length of time should provide some sort of closure for the family. A substantial reward for information, has not revealed anything to assist this case. And all tips to the police have not provided any information on this individual’s disappearance. I lost my Dad Sept 03 he was my best friend and I still miss him so. I read 2 of your books in hopes of easing my pain of losing him and I think they have helped a little.
I think my dad came and tucked me into bed and kissed me goodnight after I read your book.
